As of 13 June 2009, Facebook, Inc. is allowing Facebook users to create their own subdomains on a “first come first serve basis”. For example, it could be in the form of www.facebook.com/yourtrademark.
We strongly recommend that businesses implement appropriate monitoring services Facebook for this sort of activity and that immediate action be taken to stop unauthorised copying of your trademark(s).
Our firm can help you protect your trademark as a Facebook subdomain, and monitor for competitors who attempt to register similar subdomains.
There are procedures to prevent unauthorised infringement or acquisition of trademarks by third parties. Details of these procedures can be found at http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=899.
We would be pleased to assist your business with this process.
