Have you come up with a design that is worth protecting? Maybe it’s a unique shape of a phone or a phone cover. Be wary of infringing a Granted patent. Apple filed the foldable iPhone in August 2014. US Patent No. 9,485,862 was awarded 2 November 2016 by the United States Patent Office.
The phone uses carbon nanotubes which allow the phone to fold in half down the middle without breaking. Apple claim that this technology resists cracking.
Apple’s competitor Samsung has also patented many other foldable phone designs. The idea behind this is to “lock out” and monopolise and grow market share, and cut out competitors.
